Field notes The care

Find the names. Check the records.

Is a badge enough to trust a service?

Make a separate check of the pharmacy and of the person treating you.

Myth to check

A polished page and official-looking seal settle the checks.

Rethink that tirzepatide assumption

A logo can be copied. A public licence record gives you something concrete to check.

Find out who is doing the assessment

Ask for the person’s full name and job title. Ask whether they have permission to prescribe in the state you will be physically in for the visit.

A doctor’s licence status is listed in state medical board records, along with any public action taken by that board against the doctor.

What a board shows varies. A record without public actions does not measure the quality of care you will receive.

Use the board’s record for a doctor

Links for state medical and osteopathic boards are available from the Federation of State Medical Boards.

An osteopathic doctor is a doctor whose degree is called DO. Some states keep the DO record in a separate board from other doctors.

Match the name and licence details to the person offering the visit. If the person is a health professional other than a doctor, ask which state board holds their licence record.

Then check the pharmacy sending the medicine

Request the full pharmacy name; the online service’s name alone is not enough.

The FDA, the US medicine agency, links to state pharmacy licence searches.

FDA advises avoiding an online pharmacy whose name cannot be found in the pharmacy licence records for your state.

A record has limits

As of 26 September 2026, registering with FDA did not give a facility or its products FDA approval.

Registration is a listing process. A licence check confirms a licence, rather than proving that every medicine sent is appropriate.

Keep asking about the exact product and the care plan.
