Starting price has limits

Request the combined cost of the proposed care and medicine in writing.
Myth to check
The lowest amount on the page is the ongoing cost of care.
Rethink that tirzepatide assumption
A medicine price and a care membership answer different questions. Check what the amount covers and what is billed on top.
An online care service may charge a membership and bill the drug separately.
In the care-service offers checked in September 2026, the medicine cost was separate from the care fee. These were advertised offers, not bills paid by patients or a check of every service.
Ask whether the quote includes the assessment, later reviews, medicine, any tests, and delivery. Ask which charges recur.
For tirzepatide (Zepbound), the maker’s cash terms checked on 26 September 2026 ranged from $299 to $699 per month.
These prices cover the KwikPen, a pen holding several injections, or single-dose vials, small bottles each holding one injection. They do not cover the single-dose pen, which holds one injection.
The regular monthly prices were $299 for the 2.5 mg strength and $399 for 5 mg. For a month’s supply, the 7.5 mg strength cost $499; the 10 mg strength cost $699, as did the 12.5 mg and 15 mg strengths.
Here, mg means milligrams and identifies the strength on the prescription. These are price labels, not instructions for choosing or using a strength.
The offer charged $449 per month for 7.5 mg, for 10 mg, for 12.5 mg, or for 15 mg, provided each refill was completed within 45 days of the previous supply’s arrival. Missing that deadline meant the regular $499 or $699 price applied.
Those printed offers end on 31 December 2026.
List price is the figure the maker publishes. An offer paid in cash outside insurance is called self-pay. A copay is the patient’s part of an insured bill.
Under the terms recorded in September 2026, cash paid outside insurance adds nothing toward either the plan’s deductible or its out-of-pocket limit.
A deductible is the amount paid before the plan starts paying under its rules. The out-of-pocket limit caps the patient’s share of covered care.
Ask for the regular charge after any first-period offer, the cancellation terms, and the charge if the medicine is not prescribed.
Compare the same medicine in the same kind of pen or bottle, with the same services included. A low starting figure alone is not a full comparison.
