Ask how questions reach the person treating you and how follow-up is handled. Write down the product and care terms you are given.
Sometimes you can send information for a doctor to review later instead of speaking live on video. The medical boards’ guidance allows this only if it provides the same medical checks as a visit in a room. State rules differ as of 26 September 2026.
Ask for the name and job title of the person deciding whether to prescribe. The boards’ guidance says their name and qualifications need to be made clear. That person may be a doctor, a nurse trained to prescribe, or a licensed medical professional called a physician assistant. What they may prescribe depends on state rules.
Get the full name of the pharmacy. FDA, the US medicine regulator, notes that people ordering compounded medicines online may not know who prepared them. That name lets you check the state pharmacy record.
